First game is in the books this weekend. The Lions dominated this one more then we expected, with huge yards gained on the ground, the Lions rolled over the Als.

CFL Week 10 Picks

Montreal at B.C.

Montreal is coming off a fairly easy win against Hamilton, and B.C. is coming off a bye week. A.C. is looking like he has found his form, and the Montreal offense should give the B.C. defense all they can handle. With the injury situation to Dave Dickenson still looming, and Buck Pierce not being able to get through a game without getting hurt, look for the Lions to go with Jarious Jackson at QB. An inexperienced Jackson should keep the Lions playbook relatively simple. Look for the Lions to run the ball and go with shorter passes to move the ball. This game should be close, and with B.C. at home, it looks like the Lions have the edge.

Winnipeg @ Saskatchewan

This one should be the game of the week. With Holmes back in the picture, and the 'Riders at home in front of the 'Rider Nation, this one looks like it should be a high scoring, exciting game, with the 'Riders coming out on top. Winnipeg has been playing very well of late, Stegall and Roberts are both proving to be go-to guys when the Bombers need a big play.

Toronto @ Hamilton

This game is battle of the basement in the East. We would assume that someone has to win the game, but a tie would almost be a fitting conclusion to a game of these teams. The Argos have injury problems on both sides of the ball, and Hamilton is just plain bad...again. That being said, look for the Tiger Cat to win in a sloppy one.

Edmonton @ Calgary

The fames Labour Day Classic is shaping up to be another interesting game. The Esks always seem to have a tough time winning the 1st game of this home and home series. With the Esks offense sputtering, and Calgary at home, look for the Stamps to win this one fairly easily.

CFL Week 9 Results

Sadly, the wrong Tiger Cats team showed up for us, and the Als won decidedly.

This brings our season total to 21-9-2 thus far. Looking back, we really should have taken the favorite and went with Montreal, but sports picks are easy when you can look back at all the ones you miss.

CFL Week 9 Results

As we suspected, the Argos tried to keep the game low scoring by trying short passes and running plays, and it was very close to being successful. A field goal with seconds remaining lifted the Bombers to the win.

Our Pick: Winnipeg 24 Toronto 17

Final Score: Winnipeg 15 Toronto 13

This brings our stats for the year to 21-8-2.

Only a couple more hours until the Hamilton Montreal game. On paper it looks like a mismatch, but our gut is telling us Hamilton will pull out the upset... stay tuned...

CFL Week 9 Picks

Hard to believe its Week 9 already, and with NFL training camps in full swing, and the NHL training camps right around the corner, it is going to be an exciting couple of months in the world of Sports Picks....

Last week, the East had the bye, this week, the West gets a bye....

Toronto @ Winnipeg

A depleted Argos offense will be the key to this game. With Rocky Butler expected to start at QB, look for the Argos to keep the passes short and try to play a running game for the most part. This strategy, if it works, should keep the game low scoring and close. But, with Winnipeg playing at home, and with the Winnipeg offense playing well, look for the 'Bombers to win this one by about a touchdown.

Hamilton @ Montreal

In past years, this game was a no-brainer. Montreal at home against the lowly Tiger-Cats has blowout written all over it. This year is a different story. Montreal has not dominated this year, and Hamilton has played better in recent weeks. Jason Maas looks like he is ready for a breakout game, and the Montreal defense looks like they could provide Maas with that chance. We will go against the grain on this one, and take the Tiger-Cats over the Als.

The Esks kept this game closer then most would have expected. With a 1 hour delay due to a lightning storm, the Esks seemed to loose any momentum they had going. In the end, the 'Riders pulled out the win at home

B.C. 45 Calgary 45

By far one of the more exciting games this year in the CFL, sadly a tie doesn't help us when we are trying to make money picking winners, but on entertainment value, this game had it all.

Edmonton @ Saskatchewan

The Esks are horribly depleted by injuries, especially on defense, and a couple of weeks ago were blown out by the 'Riders in Regina. The Esks might be able to keep it close for the first half, but look for the 'Riders to win in convincing fashion.

B.C. @ Calgary

Which Stamps team will show up this week? That seems to be the million dollar question. Buck Pierce looks to be back and ready to play, if he can get through the game without suffering yet another injury, look for the Lions to take this one on the road.

Once again we went 3-1, we had Edmonton picked to win if it was raining, and Hamilton should have won the game if not for 2 dropped passes in the last minute that would have set up at the very least a field goal to win....

Our stats for the year are now at 19-8-1. We have been fairly consistent at going 3-1 every week, hopefully we can have a perfect week soon to improve our average. "Experts" average about 67% when picking football (NFL, CFL), our average is currently at 68%, which is on par with the so called "experts".

Our newest CFL picks are as follows....

Calgary @ Montreal

Calgary seems to a Jekyl and Hyde team this year, one week they are a force, the next week they get blown out. Playing Montreal in Montreal should make this a tough week on the Stamps, we predict the game to be close, maybe even a last minute field goal to win, but the Als ahould prevail.

Our Pick: Montreal 27 Calgary 24

Saskatchewan @ Toronto

Toronto has all sorts of quarterback issues right now, Damon Allen was demoted to 3rd stringer, then forced into action due to injuries and McMahon's inconsistency, and subsequently got injured himself. Saskatchewan is a team that is rolling right now, even though this game is in Toronto, look for the 'Riders to win in dominating fashion.

Winnipeg @ B.C.

B.C. is another team with quarterback injuries to deal with. Dickenson is still out, and Buck Pierce can't seem to finish an entire game without getting hurt. Winnipeg looks to be a team on the rise, Milt has his record (finally) and this week should be a win for the Bombers.

Hamilton @ Edmonton

Hamilton finally put up a win last week, and the Esks are a team that can't see to get it together on the defensive side of the ball. With this game being in Edmonton, and the long term forecast showing rain as a possibility, the edge has to go to the Esks. The turf at Commonwealth could play a factor if the skies open up. Maas was the Esks QB, and his experience on the grass should help, but in the end we see a low scoring game, with the Esks coming out on top. If it turns out to be a sunny day in Edmonton (its Alberta, the forecast changes hourly) everything changes. Look for Hamilton to use the run to expose the weak run D of the Esks.

We are not trying to become a rumors only site, not in the least, but with only the CFL on right now, we felt we should put up a few rumors we have heard in the last few days.

Torres, Shremp and a pick to LA for Cammalleri

----- Depends highly upon what the arbitration ruling ends up being

Raycroft to LA for a 2nd round pick in '08

----- Unless LA can rid themselves of Cloutier, it makes little sense to take on Raycroft as well, I don't see this happening

Kubina and a 1st round pick to St.Louis for Jackman, Mclement, 2nd round pick in '09

----- The Leafs dump salary (possibly to sign Peca) and get a decent d-man and a young forward

Huselius to New Jersey for Pandolfo

----- Would help Calgary on the PK and would give New Jersey some additional scoring. Huselius was also one of the players in Florida that Keenan was not fond of at all, wouldn't be surprising at all to see Huselius moved

Well, to finish up last week, we got saskatchewan and BC both correct last week, which brings our record to 13-6-1 thus far.

Week 6 Picks

Tough to put the picks down a couple of days late, but we are honest and will lay it out as well would have on Wednesday anyways.

Montreal, BC, Hamilton (yes, we picked it) and Calgary....

Our stats log is nearly complete, hopefully one more week and the picks will be much more detailed, we are also beginning to gear up for the NHL and NFL seasons that are upcoming.

NHL Rumors

Take it for what its worth, but we have a friend who is a reporter for a newspaper in Calgary, and there is a rumor of the following trades involving the Edmonton Oilers:

Glen Murray for Kyle Brodziak and a draft pick.

---- this looks somewhat plausible, would be a salary dump for Boston, Murray plays RW, so does Hemsky, so the fit there isn't ideal. Brodziak is a decent prospect, but Kevin Lowe has given every indication he is willing to move prospects for help now

Ilya Kovalchuk for Matt Greene, Rob Schremp, a 1st round and a 2nd round pick

---- Atlanta apparently has a budget set for around $40 million this year, they are however at $42 million with a couple more players to sign. The Oilers are deep at defense and could afford to move Greene, although he is developing into a Jason Smith type player. In Rob Schremp the Thrashers would get a prospect who has talent to burn, but the knock on him is a poor attitude and work ethic. Shremp is also coming off knee surgery, which could effect the validity of this rumor.

I should also be noted, the majority of "big" player moves the Oilers have made in the last few years have come out of left field (aquiring Peca, Pronger, the offer sheets etc) So i would be skeptical with these rumors.

There was no way the Esks should have been anywhere close in this game, it was 20 to 1 for the 'Riders at the half, but with 20 unanswered points the Esks came back to win it with a field goal in the dying minutes.

Our picks for Week 4 in the CFL

Winnipeg 2.70@ Montreal 2.00 Over/Under 50.5

Montreal should have dominated Hamilton last week, a 29-20 win shows there may be a few holes that a Winnipeg team may be able to expose. Milt Stegall is poised to break the CFL's all time touchdown record, and should do so this week against the Als.

Hamilton 6.25@ B.C. 1.10 Over/Under 48.5

This game has blowout written all over it. Even with the Lions injury problems at QB, Hamilton has not shown any consitency thus far on either side of the football. Hamilton has a chance if they can get a standout game from Maas and Gardner.

Saskachewn 2.70@ Edmonton 2.00 Over/Under 48.5

The Esks are coming off a big win last week against Winnipeg, look for some momentum to carry forward this week. The return of AJ Gass should help solidify a somewhat inexperienced defence. Saskatchewan had a poor outing last week and are looking to rebound with a win against the Esks. Expect this game to be high scoring but close.

Toronto 2.70@ Calgary 2.00 Over/Under 48.5

If the last meeting between these two was any indication, this could be a tough week for Calgary. A 48-15 rout by the Argos should leave the Stamps hungry for revenge, and with the injury problems the Argos are facing right now, this one should be a close, fairly low scoring game, with the edge given to Toronto.

To celebrate the launch of our new blog, we would like to give a quick tidbit on what we are about.

We will provide our picks for sporting events of a wide variety, including the NHL, NFL and CFL. We also hope to provide a one stop sports experience, with scores, breaking news, rumors, and injury updates.

In the past, we have used our strategies more for fun and personal gains, but we are looking forward to branching out to a more global market and helping others enjoy the same successes we have had with our picks.
